K / 22. Bay Area. Queer. Ask for pronouns.
This blog has taken almost as much of a journey as I have. It has settled nicely into a land of body positivity, self love, encouragement and inspiration, queerness, genderqueerness, feminism, classy nudes, healthy choices of all kinds, and snippets of my personal life.
I am on a journey towards self love and body acceptance. I am going through a period of self-discovery involving my sexuality and gender orientation. I am queer, and wouldn't have it any other way.
I adore anyone who's willing to ask me questions about body positivity, sexuality, gender, and queerness. Please leave me messages - I'll love you for it. :)

Body Positive Tip .001.
Treat yourself with kindness.

This is so important! Negative energy has a lasting impact on your self esteem and your wellbeing. Even when you mess up, even when you do something wrong, it is SO important to treat yourself with kindness. Would you insult your best friend the way you insult yourself?

I feel like I’m eating heaven.
Cucumbers, sliced super thin with a potato peeler.
Sliced carrots.
Rice vinegar.
A little bit of sugar.
Soy sauce.
I wanted to put seasoned salt on it, but as it turns out, I don’t own any!!
Omg.. I just threw stuff together, and now I’m going to make this ALL THE TIME.

Don’t hate any part of your body. Be happy that you actually have legs, thighs, or arms. Improve yourself, love yourself, but don’t resent yourself.

This has been my weight fluctuation for the last 6 years, in Facebook pictures.
My point in posting this is to show that weight fluctuation is NORMAL - IT HAPPENS. Part of being body positive and learning self love is learning to accept your body as it changes. I was beautiful at all of these stages in my life - I just wish I had known it or believed it then.
I never dieted, and I never purposefully binged - this is just the natural course that my weight took as the circumstances of my life changed. In 2005-2006, I was in high school, and I was very thin (using the standard of my body, and my body alone). I wasn’t very active at all, but I didn’t eat too poorly. In 2007 I went to college, where I started out thin and started to gain weight, mostly because of a change in diet - all of a sudden I was in charge of providing my own meals, which meant LOTS of RockStar, croissants, Nutella out of the jar, donuts, froyo from the cafeteria, pizza, etc. (yay college) O_o.
In 2008-2010, I was in an unhealthy relationship, and you can see the effects that had on my body. I was probably at my heaviest in around September 2010. That’s when my girlfriend (at the time) and I split up. All of a sudden, I was single, and I realized that I needed to occupy my time with healthy hobbies, rather than being depressed (as I am prone to do). I joined a workout class that January because my friend wanted a buddy, and all of a sudden I was forced to work out 4 times a week. I didn’t even notice that the pounds were shedding away. Something else happened in December of 2010 - my dad started the Paleo diet, so I started mimicking him a little bit (I didn’t go all the way, but I did my best to eliminate grains and dairy when possible and focus primarily on fruits, vegetables, and meat). I cut high fructose corn syrup out completely (still doing that).
Now I’m in a loving and healthy long-term relationship, and I can see that my healthy habits are slacking. I am not working out (after spending January-June working out 4-5 times a week), and I am making more unhealthy food choices. I KNOW that I need to get back to my healthy lifestyle (not just for keeping the weight off, but for the benefit of my body and mind!!)
Well.. this has been a life story by Keelia. Hope you enjoyed. :)
